  7. INTRODUCTION
  8. =============
  9. Symantec C++ for Macintosh version 7.0.2 corrects problems with the 7.0
  10. release of the following components of Symantec C++ for Macintosh:
  11. THINK Project Manager, THINK Debugger, Symantec C++, and THINK C.
  12.  
  13. The files in the “Release Notes” folder lists the most important bugs that
  14. this update fixes in the various components of Symantec C++ for Macintosh.

  16. About Version Numbers
  17. ---------------------
  18. Owners of the “Symantec Developers Advantage Release” CD-ROM have the
  19. 7.0.1 components contained in this update, except for the C++ translator. You
  20. should update the 7.0.1 translator (contained in the folder ‘Pre-Release’ in the
  21. ‘Symantec C++’ folder) to 7.0.2.

  23. The next patch release will contain consistent version numbers across all
  24. components.

  26. UPDATING YOUR SYSTEM
  27. =====================
  28. This section tells you how to run the various patch programs to update your
  29. Symantec C++ for Macintosh components, and how to update your libraries.
  30.  
  31. This update contains four small applications in the ‘Patches’ folder that
  32. will transform your components into the new versions. Updating is easy:
  33.  
  34. • Make sure that you update a clean installation of Symantec C++ for
  35.   Macintosh 7.0. While the patch applications will probably work with
  36.   your existing installation, they are not guaranteed to.
  37. • Double-click on the patch application (e.g. “TPM 7.0.1 Patch”).
  38. • Read the messages in the dialog that comes up; they may contain
  39.   important information. Click the ‘Patch’ button.
  40. • Find the component asked for using the standard file dialog box.

  46.     The patch is done in place! This means that the patcher will overwrite
  47.     the file you’re updating. When it is done, you will get a confirmation that
  48.  the patch was successful if all goes well.

  50. • Repeat these steps for the other patches in the ‘Patches’ folder:

  52.     Symantec C++ 7.0.2 Patch
  53.     THINK C 7.0.1 Patch
  54.     THINK Debugger 7.0.1 Patch

  56. • You must re-precompile any precompiled headers with the new compilers. To
  57.   re-precompile MacHeaders and MacHeaders++:
  58.  
  59.     1) Launch the THINK Project Manager and create an Empty project.
  60.     2) Open the file “Mac #includes.c” which is located in the “Mac #includes”
  61.       folder.
  62.     3) Choose ‘Precompile…’ from the Source menu. Save the precompiled header
  63.       as ‘MacHeaders’ replacing the one in the “Precompiled Headers” folder in
  64.       in the “Mac #includes” folder.
  65.     4) Repeat steps (2) and (3) for the file “Mac #includes.cpp”, saving it as
  66.       “MacHeaders++”.

  68.   NOTE: If you are going to update the THINK Class Library to version 2.0.2 then
  69.   wait to rebuild TCLHeaders until after you've updated the TCL. Instructions for
  70.   doing this can be found in the READ ME for the VA/TCL update.

  72. Updating the Libraries
  73. --------------------
  74. The library updates are contained in a Compact Pro self extracting archive.
  75. Installing them is easy:

  77. • Double-click on the file “Library Updates.sea”.
  78. • When it asks you to “Select the destination folder”, move to your
  79.   Symantec C++ for Macintosh folder and click “Extract”.
  80. • The archive will begin to extract its files, and at one point will say
  81.   that a duplicate file was found. This is correct; press the “Replace ALL
  82.   Duplicates” button to finish the installation.
